The Roots are reportedly giving up their bread and butter for a while. The group recently announced they’ll stop touring to become Jimmy Fallon’s house band when he takes over Conan O’Brien’s “Late Night” gig next year.
As previously reported, Fallon is set to replace Conan on “Late Night” starting March 2009 while O’Brien will finally get his shot at “The Tonight Show.” Video clips in which drummer ?uestlove spoke on the Roots’ new engagement surfaced this weekend. They’ve since been removed. A message posted on the okayplayer.com, The Roots’ website, downplayed the band’s retirement plans. The post has also been removed from message boards.-
