Alicia Keys gave birth Thursday to Egypt Daoud Dean, her son with producer husband Swizz Beatz.

"Swizz ‘Kaseem Dean’ Beatz, 32 and Alicia Keys, 29 welcomed their first child together, a son Egypt Daoud Dean on October 14th in New York City," a rep for the couple confirmed to MTV News. "Egypt is welcomed by Beatz’s three other children."

 Lil Wayne may end up in front of a judge again, but this time to defend himself against a copyright infringement lawsuit.

The Royalty Network filed a $2.5 million dollar lawsuit against Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records in Manhattan Federal Court yesterday (February 17).

According to the lawsuit, "Mrs. Officer" was produced by Darius “Deezle” Harrison, who claimed he owns the rights the song.

Harrison seeks all profits that have been derived from "Mrs. Officer", which also featured R&B crooner Bobby Valentino and rapper Kidd Kidd.
 

[Negative fallout over a controversial rap song made by a Fort Stewart soldier continued Wednesday (February 17).

A federal court judge denied Spc. Marc Hall’s request to keep his court-martial trial in the U.S., and allowed the Army to transfer him to Kuwait to face for the proceedings.

The ruling, which was announced via a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, resulted after the court “found that it was bound by longstanding precedent in abstaining from court-martial proceedings against service personnel."

Wednesday’s decision by Chief Federal District Court Judge William T. Moore, Jr. is the latest development in the ongoing case against Hall, who is facing court-martial over charges of making threats against other soldiers in this song, “Stop Loss.”

Media sources report the song was written as Hall’s response to being “stop-lossed” from being discharged and ordered to serve a second tour of Iraq. In the song, which was posted on Hall’s personal website and mailed to the Pentagon, Hall expresses his anger while rapping about going on a shooting spree.

Three-time Grammy winner R. Kelly is on the cusp of releasing his tenth studio album Untitled due in stores December 1, with his latest single Religious hitting airwaves on the heels of his critically acclaimed U.S. tour.

Building the anticipation for the album are two back-to-back powerful singles. R. Kelly recently made music history with his current single Number One featuring Keri Hilson when the song became his 35th Top 10 single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. He has now surpassed Nat "King" Cole’s record of having the most Top 10 hits on that chart, and Billboard further notes that "Kelly’s climb places him sixth among male artists and ties him with Dinah Washington for eighth overall since the R&B chart was established in 1942."

 Christopher Wallace, Jr., aka the son of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G, is following in his father’s footsteps by putting out a mixtape.

 During a recent trip to New York City, Wallace met up with Sean "Diddy" Combs and son Christian, to reveal his next power moves.

“I just finished up with that movie, probably act a little more, I’ve been rapping a bit, working on a mix-tape right now” said the young Biggie Smalls.

Wallace and Christian both visited with Diddy for a week in what he has dubbed “Swag Summer School,” to make sure the two uphold the legacy of what he and the Notorious B.I.G. built.

Despite the widespread rumors and reports, Christina Milian has just confirmed that she is not engaged to singer/songwriter/producer The Dream.

In a recent posting to her MySpace page, Milian says she is neither engaged nor about to elope with her boyfriend and wished people would stop the speculation.

"Just woke up from finishing some work in the studio late last night to some eager phone calls as to whether or not I am Engaged…. No, I am not. Point blank, period. Pretty funny."

Ne-Yo Spoke With Rihanna About Altercation, Wants To Talk To Chris Brown. Ne-Yo says Rihanna is ‘fine,’ but the leaked photo ‘hurt me to my heart.’

When Ne-Yo found out about the allegations of violence between Chris Brown and Rihanna, he knew he couldn’t get the story from a third party. Concerned for both his friends, the singer wanted to speak to them personally.

On Monday afternoon (February 23), a still-stunned Ne-Yo offered his thoughts.

"I wanted to talk to them before I made a comment," he said about the much-publicized incident that occurred several hours before the Grammy Awards on February 8. Brown turned himself in to police during the awards show and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats and released. "I spoke to Rihanna. She says she’s fine. She didn’t go into detail about what happened. I understand it’s a painful situation; I didn’t push."

Like so many of Rihanna’s fans, friends and family members, Ne-Yo said he was grief-stricken after viewing the recently leaked photo of a bruised and apparently battered Rihanna shortly after her altercation with Brown.

TMZ.com posted a photograph late Thursday (February 19) that it claims is of Rihanna shortly after her alleged February 8 altercation with Chris Brown.

The woman in the photograph is shown with her eyes closed, and visible contusions on her forehead, cheeks and mouth.

The Web site did not comment on how it obtained the photo or who took it, but the picture appears to be legit; the singer’s well-known Roman-numeral shoulder tattoos (which reportedly mark the birthday of the singer’s friend/ assistant Melissa Forde) are clearly visible. The photo seems to corroborate a story the site posted last week, which quoted an unnamed Los Angeles Police Department source as saying Rihanna suffered contusions on both sides of her face, with serious swelling and bruising, and a split lip and bloody nose.

While the LAPD did not officially confirm that the woman in the photo is Rihanna, a statement issued by the department early Friday (February 20) says, "The photograph appeared on an entertainment website. The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation."

Saigon has already responded to a diss track aimed at him by New Jersey rapper Joe Budden in a video clip that hit the net today.

During an interview with Loud.com, the Yardfather spoke on Budden’s track, “A Letter to Saigon,” and seemed ready to go to war. “He want me to bite his head off,” Sai said. “I told niggas on ‘Stocking Cap,’ ‘I’m not a battle rapper but I’ll take this razor and run this shit across you’re fucking Adam’s apple.’ But I’m gonna battle this nigga just to show him that lyrically he’s not in my league. Never been, never will be I’m gonna bite his fucking head off.“[

Usher’s new album is titled Here I Stand and the Atlanta star’s foresight could have been any better as he easily stands atop the Billboard album charts.

As jury selections for the R. Kelly sex trial began today, new claims surfaced that an aide to Kelly allegedly paid off a woman to get her to return an incriminating sex videotape featuring the Grammy Award winning singer.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, last month Judge Vincent Gaughan held four closed-door hearings and was told that the Atlanta woman, who is expected to testify that she had a three-way sexual encounter with Kelly and the suspected underage girl at the center of his child porn trial, was allegedly paid by Kelly’s aide to recover a sex tape featuring Kelly. It is unclear how much the aide allegedly paid the woman, but the woman did receive payment and arranged for the tape to be delivered to the aide.

The Atlanta woman was granted immunity from state and federal prosecution in exchange for her testimony. Federal immunity was provided to protect the woman from charges of transporting child pornography across state lines. Sources revealed the woman had been in love with Kelly.

Teen singing sensation Chris Brown is set to re-release his platinum-selling sophomore set Exclusive in June.

According to Billboard, the Jive recording artist’s disc will contain several new songs and a bonus DVD with unreleased concert and behind the scenes footage from Brown’s "Up Close & Personal" tour.

Amongst the new songs, Brown’s upcoming single "Forever," produced by Polow da Don will be featured on the album. Stepping away from his usual R&B sound, the track is reported to be more of a techno song.

"We wanted to give it that other side of crossover," Brown said in a statement. "[Polow] record is more of a European, techno, house-type feel. [To] go a little bit to that pop realm. I’ll be the ‘Prince of Pop.’ I don’t want to say ‘I’m the King,’ I just hopefully can be the ‘Prince of Pop.’"

The Grammy Awards may be about the competition, pitting artist against artist, but according to Ne-Yo, he’s more of a unifier. He says that’s the case even if there are some who want to slow the freshly minted Grammy winner’s roll. He’s looking at you, R. Kelly.

Ne-Yo — who won Best Contemporary R&B Album for his Because of You LP — spoke with MTV News late last week in Los Angeles about getting booted from Kelly’s Double Up tour in November, after which his camp sued the tour’s promoter in December for breach of contract.

"That’s something that my management and my lawyers are doing," the singer/songwriter said. "Me personally? I’ve let it go. I’m not the hold-a-grudge guy. I’m not gonna see R. Kelly in the street and run up on him and swing on him. I’m not gonna do a dis record about R. Kelly. It was what it was. It happened. For whatever reason, he, I don’t know, I guess felt threatened by me and kicked me off tour. Life goes on.

"I don’t have a problem with the man," he continued. "It’s apparent he has a problem with me — he kicked me off tour."

Hip-Hop artist T-Pain is only 22 years-old, and he has already produced more music than artists who’ve spent a lifetime in the entertainment field. He’s just been nominated for five Grammy Awards. That’s on top of the MTV Video and Vibe music awards he won previously. VOA’s Larry London recently talked with T-Pain about his skyrocketing music career.

Hip-Hop artist T-Pain success is big and getting bigger. He describes himself, "I’m such a humble person. A lot of people tell me I don’t know how big (famous) I am."

For the past three years, T-Pain has written, performed and produced an impressive amount of award-winning music, not only for himself, but also for many other R&B artists. His music is in a genre that’s hard to define.

Hip-Hop, T-Pain explains, "It really doesn’t have a meaning. Hip-Hop is a feeling to me. Hip-Hop is a moment, a mode, that you can get into at any given moment."

Despite all his success, T-Pain didn’t get much respect when he first arrived on the Hip-Hop scene.

Former B2K frontman Omarion is denying allegations by fellow members Raz-B and Ricky Romance that the group’s former manager molested them.

Demario "Raz B" Thornton and his older brother, Ricardo "Ricky Romance" Thornton, accused the group’s former manager, Chris Stokes, of molestation in a video tape that recently surfaced.

Stokes responded by saying the claims "hold no merit" and were likely financially motivated. Now former group mate Omarion has issued a statement calling the accusations totally false.

R&B star R. Kelly was dealt another break this morning (Dec. 21) with the judge ruling on keeping the singer’s bond in tact.

Kells narrowly escaped being arrested yesterday, after missing a court appearance in his child pornography case.

Judge Vincent Gaughan had warned Kells yesterday that he’d consider revoking the singer’s bond and throwing him in jail. The judge also said earlier that he was "very disappointed" that Kelly, currently on tour, missed his hearing. But today, the judge gave him another chance.

According to platinum rapper Eminem’s mom, Debbie Nelson, Slim Shady is a manic depressive who has lost control of his life.

Nelson has released a tell-all book about her son entitled My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, in which she says the superstar has battled depression for years. According to Nelson, Eminem’s condition worsened after his ex-wife Kim Mathers gave birth to their daughter Hailie, who is 11. She said his mood has become even more dangerous since Em and Kim split for a second time in 2006.

A family friend told Life and Style magazine, "[Debbie] just hopes he’ll read [the book] and realize how loved he is. She fears she’ll end up burying him unless he gets help … We all see him teetering on the edge of self-destruction."

Kanye West will be guesting on pop icon Madonna’s upcoming album Licorice, which is set to hit stores in April.

Madonna is expected to deliver her latest Warner Bros. studio album in April and according to recent Billboard, Kanye West will make a guest appearance on the track "The Beat Goes On." It is rumored that Pharell Williams will also appear on the album.

After the release of Licorice and a greatest hits collection, Madonna will fulfill all her obligations to Warner Bros. She has already agreed to a new 10-year deal with Artist Nation.

After a long hiatus from the spotlight, Michael Jackson is back and in good company, dropping a new edition of his Thriller album that will feature remixes with Kanye West, Akon and will.i.am.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of MJ’s record-breaking release, Epic/Legacy Recordings will drop Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary of Thriller on Feb. 12. In addition to remixes by Kanye, Akon and will.i.am the set will also include rare and unreleased material from the time period.

For the new edition, Jackson personally mixed and mastered "For All Time," a previously unreleased song recorded during the making of Thriller which was left off the original set. Jackson’s original "Billie Jean" demo is also included, along with rare cuts "Carousel" and "Someone in the Dark."

Among the remixes is a new version of "Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’" featuring Akon and will.i.am, the Kanye West remix of "Billie Jean" and will.i.am’s remixes of "The Girl Is Mine" and "P.Y.T."
