Rick Ross’ latest studio effort Teflon Don is projected to move a little under 200k during its first week on shelves. Hitsdailydouble predicts Rozay is on reportedly on pace to move 170-180k. If those numbers are accurate, its a strong possibility that the Def Jam star will have snagged his 4th straight number 1 album. And he can possibly detrone Eminem from the top spot.

After five weeks on store shelves, Young Money rapper Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later has gone platinum.

According to Nielson Soundscan Thank Me Later has sold over one million copies in the U.S. since its June 15 release.

Drake took to twitter to thank his fans on his achievement: "Thank you to everyone who allowed us to go platinum on a debut album! WOW"

Former G-Unit member Young Buck has accused 50 Cent of wanting to secretly destroy his rap career by indefinitely shelving his contractual albums.

Buck believes 50 is intentionally hurting his brand ever since their relationship turned sour in 2008 when he was kicked out of G-Unit.

"His reaction, being so harsh, is to basically stall me out to a position where I lose everything, to where my numbers drop," Young Buck told the Nashville Scene in a new interview.

Rap superstar and CTE/Def Jam recording artist Jeezy premiered the first official single from his highly-anticipated 4th studio album TM 103.

"Jizzle", featuring Lil Jon and produced by longtime collaborator and creative partner Shawty Redd, is the first official single from TM 103, which received its long-awaited release date, September 28th.

Jizzle follows on the heels of Jeezy’s street anthem Lose My Mind, featuring Plies. The dark and rowdy Lose My Mind peaked at #2 on the Urban chart, with over 3600 spins and a combined total of 35 million in audience. Continuing to feed the streets, Jeezy recently released the summer street banger All White Everything, featuring Yo Gotti and produced by the infamous Shawty Redd.

Since the release of his 2009 album Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent has been traveling the world, playing shows and taking in new musical ideas.

Along the way, he has been putting together music for an album called Black Magic, which was going to find 50 pulling in a number of different genres and influences (most notably from dance and rock music). But according to a recent interview, that entire project may be put on the back burner in favor of a more traditional hip-hop album.

"I’ve written an album that’s called Black Magic, but I am not sure it will be my next album,"

Lil Kim has been talking about a comeback for a minute now in between her jabs at fellow New York rapper Nicki Minaj and she seems to be setting the stage to do so but according to her, fans shouldn’t expect an album anytime soon. She is gearing up to release a few singles though.

“I am working on my album,” said Kim while talking to Hollywood TV. “I’m gonna be dropping some singles soon. I’m not concentrated on dropping an album so soon, but I will be dropping singles.”

During a recent interview, Canadian rapper Drake revealed that he has had to refrain from looking at online blogs because he can’t handle the negative comments that people send his way. If a single person out of the many who heap praise on him says something unflattering the Young Money MC says that he fixates on that one person’s statement.

“I have a problem where if I go read a hundred positive things about me and there’s one guy in there who says, ‘I hate Drake’ that’s the one I pay attention to,” admitting Drake while talking to Paper Magazine. “I think that’s a common problem. Negativity hurts us more than positivity helps us. “

The-Dream recently opened up about his split with Christina Milian in the form of an open letter, and according to the singer/songwriter, the end of their relationship made him suicidal. He also denies that another woman is the cause for their separation and said that there were a lot of things going on behind the scenes.

“It’s easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, it’s not. I would never intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that,” wrote The-Dream in the letter titled In My Own Words.

A new Lil Wayne EP is scheduled to be released on the incarcerated rapper’s birthday, September 27th. The project will serve as a setup for Tha Carter IV and help keep fans tided over until the LP hits stores but won’t get the full-press treatment like most releases from the Cash Money lyricist.

According to Cortez Bryant, the CEO of Young Money, the EP will only be released digitally at first and promotion will be minimal.

“I’m putting out a [Wayne EP] called I’m Not A Human Being and I’ll probably drop it on his birthday,” said Bryant to VIBE. “We’re not about to roll out no three-month setup. I’m not even putting it out in stores. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give ‘em a hard copy later for fan appreciation.”

Lloyd recently apologized to Ciara via his Twitter account for openly criticizing her last year. According to the former Murder Inc. singer, he was venting and had taken out some of his frustrations out on her but now he sees the error in his ways and wants her to know that he is sorry.

“Self Check: I was wrong for what I said about Ciara. I was dead wrong,” started Lloyd. “Who’s to say I know right or wrong. It’s hard to look in the mirror and be able to realize your flows, your mistakes and admit to them publicly.”

“There’s a line between friendship that should valued. I hurt her. I disappointed her fans, my fans, my friends. Even my mama. It’s a difference between personal feeling and what’s real and I’d just like to apologize and move on.”

Footage of 50 Cent getting assaulted by a fan during a concert in Brazil recently hit the web and differing reports of what happened after the fan was captured soon followed. According to G-Unit member Tony Yayo though, despite what you may hear or even think you see, the fan wasn’t beaten up too badly after they got to him.

“The show got crazy, man,” said Yayo to MTV News during a phone interview. “For security reasons, when somebody jumps on stage…when [performers] got on chains for $20,000, $30,000, $40,000, that’s a security risk right here. Nobody should be onstage except me, Banks, and 50.”

Pop singer/actress Lindsay Lohan was recently sentenced to 90 days in jail for continuously violating her probation; she failed to attend her weekly alcohol education classes, and she has consumed alcohol since she has had the SCRAM anklet which detects each time she uses alcohol.

Since Lohan has a history of breaking the law, with charges such as DUI, driving with a suspended license, possession of cocaine and transport of a narcotic; the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, Marsha N. Revel, showed no remorse in sentencing Lohan while pleading her case by explaining why she continued to go against the courts previous orders according to Los Angeles Times.

Hip-Hop’s pop diva, Rihanna, has allegedly been in contact with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Those familiar with the couple are aware of the severity of the couple’s past relationship, in which Rihanna was physically abused.

A source reports, “It’s been almost a year since they last spoke, but Rihanna felt like she could try to be friends with Chris again," they continued. “Seeing how emotional he was on set [at the BET Awards] really touched her. She’d never seen him like that before.”

Despite speaking via telephone, the two have not been in contact since Chris was sentenced to his community service labor and put under five years probation.

Heavyweights 50 Cent and Rick Ross had beef in 2009 that will go on the books of Hip-Hop forever. From tossing insults back and forth over airwaves; to Fifty taking the mother of Ross’ child on a shopping spree in exchange for public malicious comments towards Ross, the quarrel kept the attention of Hip-Hop for a few strong months.

However Ross has taken the initiative to put an end to it for once and for all, he reflects on his dealings with Fifty, and realizes that he has added to the unnecessary contamination in the rap game.

Lil Wayne’s popular No Ceilings mixtape has many notable tracks, one of the top rated being I’m Single which he shot a video for just before he began his prison sentence for weapons possession. Weezy’s cinematographer for The Nino Brown Story, DJ Scoob Doo shot the video and explained that it will give viewers the same feel of excitement as if it was the first time they’ve heard the record.

"The thing with Wayne, if you don’t get a chance to see how hard he worked on the record, and the wit and pizzazz he had with it, he wants to give you that same feeling the first time you hear it," Scoob told MTV News. "Which he does audio-wise, but him performing it for you in the studio is what really it’s about as far as this video."

On April 15, Southern rapper T.I. revealed that the title of his upcoming album will be King Uncaged. The project will be his seventh solo studio release and marks his first release post incarceration.

Making the announcement via his website, TrapMuzik.com, T.I. also revealed that he is working with producers Jim Jonsin, Danja, and The Runners on the album, and will also collaborate with ATL rapper B.o.B. The album is scheduled to be released in the late summer on August 24th.

Dr. Dre Confirms Detox Single With Jay-Z (Video) 


Dr. Dre has literally had the internet going nuts in the past week, ever since rumours started circulating of the first official "Detox" single being around the corner, in form of a collaboration with none other than Jay-Z.

While fans have become weary of getting excited for "Detox" over and over again without it coming to fruition, the craze has hit home once again and the Doctor’s long awaited album is the number one topic amongst Hip-Hop fans all over.

After a picture of Dr. Dre and Jay-Z in the studio leaked a few days ago (see to your left), the song was confirmed to be real. Shortly after, Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine made it official when he announced that the song was called "Under Pressure".

Yesterday, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine appeared on CNBC for an interview about the "Beats by Dr. Dre" headphones and 6:40 minutes into the interview, Dr. Dre himself confirms the Jay-Z collaboration and announces that he is pushing to get "Detox" out this year. Watch the interview below:

However, fans shouldn’t be too quick to get their hopes up for "Detox" to drop this year. Dr. Dre also spoke to the  Boston Herald, here is an excerpt of the interview:

"But when asked if “Detox” would appear before next year, he was noncommital. “I’m on my slow creep right now,” Dre said. “But then I’m gonna come hit ’em with the tsunami.”"

DMX is back in the doghouse. The troubled rapper was arrested and brought to a Phoenix jail on Tuesday (March 9) for using illegal drugs.

According to Reuters, the Yonkers-bred MC, born Earl Simmons, admitted to a probation officer that he had been abusing cocaine since he was released from jail nine months ago. He is currently facing five counts of violating his probation and being held without bond.

 Waka Flocka Flame is currently in the recording studio working on completing his goal of releasing twenty street albums by 2011.

Three releases are currently on deck, including Salute Me or Shoot Me Volumes 2 and 3 and the studio album Murda Man Flocka.

Waka, who is a member of 1017 Brick Squad, will travel to New York this week to make an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park countdown show.

 Accusations of racism have been hurled at Jay-Z after reports circulated that his security banned Caucasians from the VIP section of his Brit Awards afterparty.

The superstar emcee held his party at London’s Merah nightclub after taking home honors for Best International Male Solo, off the platinum success of Blueprint 3.

According to various reports, the planned celebratory night was mired by constant fights prompted by overzealous fans pushing and shoving in vain attempts to get to Jay.

Kim Dawson, a reporter for the UK’s Daily Star, alleges that black people were allowed free access to the VIP area without scrutiny, while any white attendee was immediately shunned. 

 Lil Wayne may end up in front of a judge again, but this time to defend himself against a copyright infringement lawsuit.

The Royalty Network filed a $2.5 million dollar lawsuit against Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records in Manhattan Federal Court yesterday (February 17).

According to the lawsuit, "Mrs. Officer" was produced by Darius “Deezle” Harrison, who claimed he owns the rights the song.

Harrison seeks all profits that have been derived from "Mrs. Officer", which also featured R&B crooner Bobby Valentino and rapper Kidd Kidd.
